Yoo Yang in Honduras

The union at the Yoo Yang factory was started with the help of the KIMI union. STITCH works closely with this union through our training exchange program. After a failed attempt to get legal recognition, the union tried again in July. Though the Labor Ministry is legally obligated to respond within 15 days, the union did not receive any response for more than six weeks. The legal recognition (a prerequisite to negotiating a contract) is still pending. Contact the Honduran Embassy and encourage the Honduran government to act expeditiously on the application for legal recognition that has been filed by the Yoo Yang union in Lima, Honduras: The Honorable Hugo Noe Pino, Embassy of Honduras, 3007 Tilden Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20008. Tel: 202-966-7702; Fax: 202-966-9751. For more information on the campaign, go to U.S./Labor Education in the Americas Project.
