We believe that workers should earn a living wage in a safe, decent work
environment, and that those responsible for the exploitation of sweatshop
workers must be held accountable. UNITE HERE UNITE (formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees) and HERE (Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) merged on July 8, 2004 forming UNITE HERE. The union represents more than 450,000 active members and more than 400,000 retirees throughout North America . Through organizing, UNITE HERE members have made apparel jobs in the South, hotel housekeeping jobs in Las Vegas , and hundreds of thousands of other traditionally low-wage jobs into good, family-sustaining, middle class jobs.
